Teen Group

The Teen Group meets in Room 11 from 11:15 to 12:45 weekly, in what is effectively the teen lounge.  Weekly activities include discussion, interactive work and play, music, written word, art and more, exploring questions of spirit, personal and global transformation.  Under the guidance of teen leader Bill Frater and various guest speakers, the group covers a lot of material and has fun in the process.

The teens work together on service projects, fundraisers, retreats and social events, and also produce the annual teen service.

Teen Winter Camp 2012

Seasons Greetings Earthlings.

Today I am taking the last of the registrations form into Dr. Edward's office for his signature.  These are the forms for the Winter Teen Camp taking place at Camp Loma Mar near Half Moon Bay on January 13 through 16. I am very excited that we are bringing 12 teens including 3 newbies to our Winter Camp along with myself and two other advisors, Doris and Sara (see their photos to the right.)

At Winter Camp we have experiencial workshops and learn about Science of Mind.  There will be song, dance and much community building among teens from all over Northern California.

There could be as much as 200 Teens at the Camp.

I'm looking forward to it.

In order to qualify for Camp, you have to attend Teen Group regularly and participate in the fund raising activities such as selling wreaths at Christmas, Mother's Day Baskets, etc.

If you have a teen in your life who would like to know more, please contact me.

Being in Teen Group

by Camille Escovedo, age 14

I have always enjoyed church, but when I was old enough to go to Teen Group, I was nervous. So every week I would say, “Uh, Mom, I’m gonna go with you to service this time.”

Finally I said to myself, “Why not?” And it’s been awesome. I walked into Teen Group, and everyone there, sprawled out together on the couches and looking very enlightened, welcomed me like an old friend, and I kept coming back.

Over the year I bonded with my fellow teens, these life-changing individuals who are all so close to me now; they’re family. No matter what happens, I love them, and they love me, too.

I have found where I belong—with people who all love and adore each other unconditionally. I am living in the exhilaration of being a part of something so much bigger than I am. It is the most beautiful thing I have ever experienced in my life, and I can never go back!

From Angela Church

angela_church copy.jpgHi, my name is Angela Church. I am 17 and I’ve spent my whole life at the Santa Rosa Center for Spiritual Living. I am a Science of Mind child through and through.

This teaching has given me everything that I have and has gotten me through every bit of my “rough teenage years” so far. I am so comforted to know that I have a community of people who love me unconditionally. I have a whole network of people who inspire and encourage me every day.

Last month I went to the Integration Conference in San Diego. It was so inspiring and touching to watch the two organizations that have been so close to my heart put an end to the question “Why are there two organizations that are teaching oneness?”
Amidst this huge change, I was temporarily focused elsewhere. With beauty and love surrounding me, I was thinking about my woes. I cried and suffered and eventually got it together enough to call up a friend. He reminded me that I have a spiritual toolbox bursting with things that I can use to reshape my thinking and restore peace in my life. So I swallowed my pride and chose to have a great time. And then I did!

I have the power to change the world around me as I know it. So do you. Let’s learn to use what good ol’ Ernie gave us.

CSL Teens do service day at camp!

As part of our summer camp experience from June 26th to July 3rd, we spent a whole day packing over 50,000 food packages for hungry families in Tanzania and Malawi. The whole event was organized by an amazing group from Outreach International. The ICSL teens under the leadership of Rev. Keith Cox have built 14 schools in Malawi and plan another trip next year with more teens.

Here are many of our youth and advisors with the boxes of food we packed.

Your current web browser must be updated to version 7 of Internet Explorer (IE7) to take advantage of all of template's capabilities.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
