Whether you know and have used Spiritual Mind Treatment (affirmative prayer) for years or are brand new to the practice, the upcoming class A Way to Pray will deepen your understanding of the power of our language and conscious thought to shape our lives. It offers an awesome tool for living. The class could be called A Way to Live: A way to consciously choose well-being, kindness and compassion for self, others, the world.
Over several years of using affirmative prayer, I have become habituated to shifting my fear, grief, anxiety or doubt about my life’s challenges to faith that good/God/ the Divine can be experienced in everything. When I had a blow up with my sister last year, both of us in our fifties, I prayed that my crazy, angry alcoholic sister would get help, change, be different. “How’s that working out?” you might ask… I was in pain; angry and frustrated. I had forgotten how to pray!
I needed to be reminded of the power of AFFIRMATIVE prayer, especially in those relationships and circumstances that are dearest to us. Like family, and life threatening illness. The Way to Pray that we use (Spiritual Mind Treatment) works miracles for me. It is about praying for the good to be revealed. Not for the bad to disappear. If you’ve heard the adage “What you resist persists”, it means that if your focus is to change the bad or the negative, you’ll get more of THAT. Now when I pray about my sister, it is for her to experience love, acceptance, and peace. And for myself, the same. I pray that I might be kind and understanding. She is still crazy, angry and drinking, AND our relationship is at peace. I am at peace. It’s a miracle! This IS The Way to Pray…

Hi Martha,
Posts on Facebook pages can be scheduled for automatic posting in advance. So if you send me articles I can post them over time. To be effective as an awareness raising tool, the posts need to come out daily for a while, and then, the most effective use is to enroll class assistants and teachers to "like" and "share" the posts. The following week we can re-post all 5 articles on our center's blog page.
Love Edward

Hi Edward, Allan and Kathleen,
I will start on some articles. Kathleen, are you on Facebook? I need some ideas from you, former students or assistants. Since I have not taken the class, I will be using poetic license for the common themes in our classroom experience and culling from the workbook.
Edward, are you sure you want to do one per day for 5 days this week? Class does not start for 14 days. I won’t be able to do it Thursday and Friday. Not just because those are my days off, but because my plans do not include electronics or social media. Or are you going to do the posting?
Allan, the web pricing is incorrect. The early bird price is listed as the “regular” price. It should be (% discount):
$75.00 regular
$60.00 senior – 20% 60+ yrs
$37.50 youth – 50% <30 yrs
$56.25 Practitioners – 25%
Blessings, all!
Martha

Dear Martha,
What we have on the site at the moment under the Education Ministry menu is the following description:
piritual Mind Treatment: A Way to Pray
Centers for Spiritual Living are part of the contemporary metaphysical movement and of all the practices that we share in common with other faith traditions (service, meditation, study, devotion, etc.) Spiritual Mind Treatment may be the cornerstone of our unique approach to Divinity. In this course, students will look at the logic behind the steps of Spiritual Mind Treatment, compare them to the practice of our founder, Ernest Holmes, and explore how language can either solidify a sense of separation from God or lead us deeper into the awareness of our unity with All That Is.
Stepping Stones Books & Gifts uses the same text, with an additional description of the teacher, Kathleen. Here is the url that you can use when you post on Facebook:
I think that what your goal should be to create a successful increase of awareness about the class is to get four or five short paragraphs that describe the course content and value in a personal and engaging way, so that they can each be posted on separate days over the next five days.
I recommend answering the following questions in the articles (about 200-300 words each):
What will I get out of this class?
What makes this class different from all the other classes?
Why should I take this class?
What have previous students said about the class?
How does this class contribute to a world that works for everyone?
Equipped with content like this, I can stage a great campaign to raise awareness on Facebook, using our website as a home base for the articles.
Much love,
Edward

Hi Allan,
I would like to get a bulletin announcement back for Kathleen’s A Way to Pray class. And perhaps a presence on our home page with a link to bookstore’s registration page? Something for me to post to Facebook!
Do you have copy archived? If not, I can send copy tomorrow. There have been zero web sales, and we want to say the registration is “in Social Hall today and on the web 24/7…” or whatever…
Georgett,
Per our conversation, Kathleen will staff the table (with my assistance) for the next two Sundays in place of Sanna’s Meditation class table. That class starts this week.
XO
Martha
That's the title of the 2013 Sonoma County Pride Interfaith Service scheduled for June 9 at 7 pm at the Center for Spiritual Living, Santa Rosa. The service brings together religious leaders from diverse traditions within the County who will join in unity to acknowledge and celebrate the spiritual presence found in every person. Music will be provided by Sonoma County native gay singer-songwriter, Bobby Jo Valentine. Everyone is welcome.
The first thing I love about the Meditation: A Way of Life Workshop is how the Light of God shows up anew in the eyes of the participants and seems to say "hello" to me and the room. The second thing is witnessing the aha moment when someone "gets" how simple, easy, comfortable, and joy-filled it is to practice a meditation style that works for them. I celebrate!
There's still time to sign up and I hope you join us.
This is a test post with an inserted picture. I wonder how close the text will be to the photo. I think I should add some space.
You’ve heard it said, "It’s all God" and "It's all good," right?
What happens when it doesn’t feel good? What happens when life isn’t rosy?
