How to Stand for Something and Against Nothing

OHurleyMarchSunday afternoon, March 25, from 2 to 4 pm, is a workshop with Rev. Shannon O'Hurley. What does it mean to "pray with your feet?" As people of faith, we have an incredible opportunity to take a loving, tangible stand for humanity. In this timely, dynamic and heart-opening workshop, you will learn how to incorporate social actions and active peace — building as a powerful Spiritual Practice.

Rev. Shannon O’Hurley is passionate about creating a world that works for everyone. She currently holds the honor of being the field organizer for the state of Colorado, for President Obama’s organization, Organizing for Action. Where she brings her ministry out into the world, advocating for immigrants rights, GLBTQ & women’s rights, economic equality and the environment. She also trains Hospice care workers in the art of mindfulness and meditation.

She served as an Associate Minister at Mile Hi Church in Lakewood, Colorado where she created and directed the Interfaith/Multicultural Ministry, developed their social justice stands and wrote curriculum for their Education Program. Prior to moving to Colorado, she was the Associate Minister at the New Thought Center for Spiritual Living in Lake Oswego, Oregon, where she provided pastoral care and served as the director of both the Practitioner and Education Programs. In addition to her masters degree in Consciousness Studies from the Holmes Institute, she holds a second masters from Portland State University in Conflict Resolution and Peace-building with an emphasis on inter-religious dialogue and mediation. Rev. Shannon worked with the Council for the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago, facilitating inter-faith dialogue between leaders of varying faith traditions and currently serves as a consultant for several interfaith justice organizations around the country.
