Past Presentations:

October 23 - Practitioner Diane Topogna will share her experiences as a hospice nurse. Questions and discussion follow.

September 25 - "Introductions and Discussion." At the first meeting of the fall season, we will introduce our new facilitators—practitioners Laura Lee, Jan Svoboda, and Peggy Weber—and we will discuss any special interests the group may have. Everyone is welcome to join us as we continue the conversation regarding the many facets of death and dying.

August 28 - "Bringing Funerals Back Home with Grace and Compassion," presented by Jerrigrace Lyons, founder/director of Final Passages. Jerrigrace will discuss the reclaiming of ancient traditions involving life's most powerful experiences. She will define and explore the meaning of natural death care, home vigils, green cremation, and burial options. You will learn about the many benefits of these personalized customs: spiritual, emotional, financial, and ecological, as well as practical aspects to help you make informed choices.

July 24 - Our guest speaker is Lolaine Ravensunbird, a certified End of Life Care Specialist, who is trained in listening and caring for those whose lives are coming to a completion. Lolaine will present two short "Spiritual Cinema Circle" films followed by shared discussion.

June 26, 2016 - No meeting due to Annual Picnic.

May 22, 2016 - We will show a chapter from Bill Moyer’s “On Our Own Terms” DVD called “Death With Dignity.” This month’s gathering promises to be a rich one, and this topic is worthy of a closer look, both practically and spiritually. A conversation about the DVD will follow.

April 24, 2016 - “The Mindfulness of Grief: Staying Present with our Feelings of Loss” with Peggy Weber, a Licensed Prayer Practitioner.

March 27, 2016 - No meeting due to Easter.

February 28, 2016 - View the DVD New Rules for End of Life Care. This is a Telly Awards winning DVD, by Barbara Karnes, RN, who is an end of life educator and hospice pioneer. This 20 minute video contains important guidance and information that will help you turn your loved one’s final challenge into a meaningful experience and sacred memory. Discussion and sharing will follow after the video.

January 24, 2016 - Guest Speaker: Pamela Heck, RScP. Learn how to use affirmative prayer for specific issues we may have related to death and dying. Using affirmations as a consciousness expander, participants will be guided in the creation of a personal affirmative prayer. Accepting death as a part of the larger life frees us to live more fully, now and always.
