| Linda
gives us the glorious gifts of her diverse musical roots and
experience. Her family exposed her to white southern gospel
music and the old-time traditions of the dust bowl, and although
she began piano at age seven and took a classical degree,
she has always maintained her deep connection with the energy
and emotion of her roots.
She spent several years in Africa, traveling through Kenya,
the Congo, and West Africa, and absorbing both the indigenous
rhythms of the continent and those that migrated there, such
as soka, calypso and reggae.
Linda
spent her last 3 years in Africa in a rural environment without
electricity or running water. After dark, she would listen
for the drums which would play all night when there was a
celebration, a birth or a funeral. |

Linda
is now living her dream of being a full-time musician, composer,
singer, pianist, teacher and music director. Linda brings
an emotional intensity to her music which is born out of her
personal struggles, and a rich tapestry of rhythms and styles
derived from her musical roots and world travels.
Currently Music Minister at CSLSR, Linda teaches music to
the youth church and offers piano and vocal coaching to children
and adults. |
